The shields for both brands comes in one size no matter the nipple size.

Which Size of Pacifier Should You Choose?

When it comes to choosing the perfect pacifier size, several factors come into play:

Baby's Age

The age of your baby is a crucial consideration. Pacifiers come in different sizes designed for various age groups. Newborns and infants have different oral needs than older babies. It's essential to select a pacifier size that aligns with your baby's age to ensure a comfortable fit and proper development.

Pacifier Nipple Shape

Pacifiers come with different nipple shapes, such as orthodontic or symmetrical. The right nipple shape can significantly impact your baby's comfort. Some babies prefer one shape over the other, so it's worth trying different shapes to see which one your baby prefers.

Sucking Strength

Every baby is unique, and their sucking strength can vary. Some babies have a strong sucking reflex, while others are more gentle. It's important to observe your baby's sucking pattern and choose a pacifier size that matches their strength. A pacifier that's too small may not satisfy a strong sucker, while a large one can be challenging for a gentle feeder.

Our Recommendations

Choosing the right pacifier size for your baby is a crucial decision that can impact their comfort and development. By considering factors like your baby's age, sucking strength, and safety, you can make an informed choice. Each child is different and have different needs and preferences. Try out different shapes and sizes to find the perfect fit for your baby.

From our experience, the following sizes are the general guide and therefore also our common recommendation. However, all sizes can be used from birth. It all comes down to your baby’s preference. It is not dangerous to give a newborn a size 3. However, because most newborns prefer a smaller size, we have made the following recommendations:

  • Size 1: 0+ months
  • Size 2: 6+ months
  • Size 3: 18+ months

Age and size indications are only a guide for you to follow and it is essential to pay attention to your baby's cues and preferences. If in doubt, consult with your pediatrician for personalized guidance. Ensuring your baby has the perfect pacifier size will contribute to their overall well-being and happiness.
